Verdict

PROVEN RECORD (9) accounted for a maiden field over 1m at Pakenham last start when fresh from a break. Is lightly raced and has plenty of scope for improvement. MONT SAINT MICHEL (17) has been thereabouts without winning, the latest finishing a half a length second at Ararat and drops in the weights for this. Meets a tougher line-up this time but can measure up. PRESERVATOR (4) was comfortably accounted for when seventh last time out over 1m at Pakenham, beaten 11 lengths, but was a nice winner the start prior and draws to advantage here. NORWOODS (7) rarely runs poorly and got within 1.5 lengths of Williamstown, who would have been one of the leading fancies here, two back. SINISTER SAUCE (14) returned in great style and draws to go on with it here.

Second-up. First-up after four months scored a big 5.5 len win at Pakenham F&M Mdn-Sw November 14 over 1m on a soft track defeating Dela Bella with 128lbs at $7.50. Previously second-up 6th of 8 at Gold Coast Mdn-Sw on June 14 over 1m, 5.5 len behind Better Draw with 123lbs at $7. Big chance to make it back-to-back wins. Up in grade off the maiden win but looks more progressive than most.
