SPONARS (9) unlucky not to have a few more wins on the CV and looks well placed today. Stalked the good tempo and never appeared comfortable in the heavy going with a respectable third over 6f at Canterbury. At his top now and looks great each way value. TOTOKA (7) dropped in trip two-back when he got the money here over the 6f. Just under a month between runs when she was snagged back from the wide gate to run a slashing second over 6f here. Fitter now and looking for this trip and further from a low gate. Genuine winning contender. PURPLE ROSE (10) returns from a let-up. Gripped on late with a narrow second over 6 ½f at Hawkesbury. Tricky gate today but looks to have further improvement. VORACIOUS (1) third-up today and can bounce back quickly in this weaker contest. Held a handy position on the turn but found nothing in the straight with a dismal last over 7f at Warwick Farm in BM72 grade. One for the exotics.
