Verdict

PROVIDENCE (5) is a promising stayer fresh from a spell and on the Derby path. Made up plenty of ground in the last two runs of his Spring campaign, finishing second in the Moonee Valley Vase and fifth in the VRC Derby. Has trialled twice so should be forward enough to test this field despite 6 ¾f being way short of his optimal trip. MOORDYUP (11) got going late to clock in fifth when resuming over 6f here last start. Nicely placed out to this trip with that run under the belt. The claim for Mitch Stapleford brings her in beautifully. OVERSHADOW (12) overcame an early check to get up for third last start over 7f at the Kensington track. Major player out of gate one with winkers applied for the first time. SO D'ORO (15) has not raced since showing pace then tiring on debut over 6 ¼f at Newcastle last September. Has trialled twice and should run a cheeky race. GUS THE GREAT (2) went well first-up at Warwick Farm and will appreciate the longer journey today.
