Verdict

Most of these have decent claims. SOLID (7) was ridden colder last start and responded by working home well to get up for second over 7 ¼f at Illawarra Grange. Gets a small gear change and should be ready to peak at the third run back. The hardest to beat will be CLANWILLIAM (1) who missed a maiden win by a whisker over 7f here first-up. Unsuited dropping back to 6 ½f at Warwick Farm last time but was only beaten a couple of lengths. This looks the ideal scenario at the third run back. BRITISH GEM (10) has attacked the line with purpose for a couple of close thirds in shorter races to kick off this prep. Gets blinkers for the first time and a bit more ground on a roomier track is ideal. FLYING PARTY (3) made it four minor placings from as many career runs when runner-up to I Am Adonis over 6 ½f at Wyong recently. Will enjoy getting out to this distance for the first time. The promising SUR NOVA CENTAURI (8) is trialling well and looks ready to make a strong comeback.
