Verdict

PENCILLER (2) settled midfield and tried hard but lacked the change of gears required when resuming over 5f at Dubbo last start. Racing beyond 5 ½f for the first time today but as an older horse it looks the right move. Handles the going so should prove hard to beat in a race of just a handful of live chances. SHAHAR (8) has not won for a while, the best recent effort coming three back when beaten narrowly over 6f at the Sunshine Coast. New to the trip and has just one placing in five soft track runs. In the mix all the same. BURNING AMBITION (4) came from well back to score an impressive maiden win first-up over 6f at Tamworth. Quickened nicely on the wet track that day which is a good sign going into this. RAGING (5) did his best work late to get up for third when fresh from a spell over 6f at Warwick last start. Doesn't win out of turn - each-way chance. YANABAH (3) will appreciate the step up in distance today and is yet to miss the placings in five wet track runs.
