Verdict

ALWAYS A RAINBOW (1) is a talented mare back from a five-month lay-off. Started even-money or shorter at all four runs to date, the only win coming over 1 ¹/16m at Grafton at her third appearance. Placed twice over this distance and looks the testing material. LA POTENZA (2) closed well without threatening first-up over 6 ?f at Muswellbrook last start. Led all the way to salute second-up last prep over 6 ½f at Dubbo. Looms as the big danger. NORTHERN EAGLE (4) took 14 runs but broke his maiden in the most emphatic fashion last time out over this trip at Tamworth, putting almost seven lengths on the nearest rival. It didn't look like a fluke so he might be one to follow. ALMOST MAYBE (3) turned in a fair effort over today's journey at Grafton recently. Gets in well after the claim and is worth throwing in the exotics. HILLBILLY HIPPIE (8) is a chance coming back a little in trip with the blinkers on.
