Verdict

Open race. ELYSIUM (15) was heavily bet resuming this track trip for the Michael Freedman yard and folded up late from the speed. Has been freshened and has been kept up to the mark with a trial placing here. Just missed at Newcastle before the spell and with the extra fitness can take this out. The former Victorian STRANGLEHOLD (2) resumed with a placing over 6 ¾f at Ipswich, and it was a tough effort after settling rearwards. Is still well shy of his best, and the blinkers are on again. KIRKALL (11) led as a short-priced favourite at Coffs Harbour but folded right up after leading. The form leading up to that reads well enough and expect him to take a sit today from the inside draw. SWIFT DUKE (6) finds a more suitable race and is another worth considering.
