AU - Cairns - Race 2

Two-year-old MONDAY CLOSE (4) was scratched from the first to be saved for this. Made it three minor placings from five starts when he led and looked home only to be nailed near the line over 6f at Townsville last time out. Big chance to go one better despite taking on older horses. POWER CRUISE (2) improved out of sight last start at the third run of the prep, working home in good style to be beaten just a length over 7f at Townsville. Draws a nice gate and although coming back in trip he looks a key runner. SPIETH IMPEDIMENT (8) raced handy all the way and held on for third when resuming over 6f at Oak Park recently. Sure to take a lot from that run and is expected to feature in the finish again. PROPER BENDER (6) just missed the placings at Ingham last start when second-up from a spell. Tougher this time but with further improvement a top three finish is on the cards. ZIG ZAG TORQUE (9) has found one better at her last couple in weaker maidens. One for the exotics.
