    • For the first time since the 2015, the Cowboys will open a season without Ezekiel Elliott on their roster. For years, the Cowboys' offense has featured Elliott, but in 2023, Tony Pollard is expected to step into a larger role after the Cowboys released Zeke and placed the franchise tag on Pollard in March.

  • Daniel Jones: new contract, new expectations
    • The first season of the Brian Daboll era in New York reignited Jones' career. After leading the Giants to a playoff victory, he signed a four-year $160 million extension just one season after the team declined to pick up his fifth-year option. Jones' new deal comes with higher expectations, such as winning a primetime Week 1 clash with the Cowboys and taking a real step toward the Giants winning the NFC East for the first time since 2011.
  • Darren Waller's Giants debut
    • The Giants' lack of weapons in the passing game was a major focal point last season, and New York moved quickly to address that in the offseason. Darren Waller's arrival provides Jones with a dynamic pass-catcher in the middle of the field. If Waller can recapture his form from the 2020 season, when he caught 107 passes, he will provide a massive boost to the Giants' offense as they look to take the next step in their second year under Daboll.
