College Basketball Betting: Wake Forest Returns Home to Face Georgia Tech

With the Atlantic Coast Conference regular season nearly wrapped up, respective sides are still scrapping for seeding in the upcoming tournament.

On Tuesday, the Wake Forest Demon Deacons will return home to Winston-Salem, NC for a romp with the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets. As it is now, the Deacs are tied for fifth while G.T. sits in the conference cellar.

Considering Georgia Tech-Wake Forest is set to tip off in just a few hours, let's dive into the betting odds, matchup details and best bets for this ACC contest.

Georgia Tech at Wake Forest Matchup Analysis

Despite suffering back-to-back losses on the road, Wake Forest (-13.5) is a substantial favorite back at home versus Georgia Tech tonight. The Demon Deacons have only two regular-season games remaining -- can WFU approach the conference tournament with needed momentum?

The Yellow Jackets are one of the worst teams in the ACC this year. G.T. has played to a tough 13-16 overall record, which includes 6-12 results versus conference foes. Seemingly, Jackets head coach (and 1996 NBA Rookie of the Year) Damon Stoudamire has been frustrated behind the team's mediocre 71.2 PPG.

For the Deacs, head coach Steve Forbes is completing his fourth regular season in Winston-Salem. With Wake Forest sitting at a record of 18-11, winning out would notch Forbes' second-highest win total at WFU.

At numberFire, the men's college basketball power rankings have Wake Forest (12.08 nERD) listed at 22nd in Division I. Comparatively, the Jackets (2.46 nERD) don't show up until 131st on that same list. With G.T. hitting the road Tuesday, the Demon Deacons are both the better team and the home team.

Transparently, betting on Tech to win outright on Tuesday is a long-shot wager of +720 odds at FanDuel Sportsbook. I don't see that as a likely outcome for this bid in "Twin City." However, I cannot say that I am eager to play the Deacs while laying 13.5 points after consecutive losses.

Georgia Tech at Wake Forest Best Bet

Under 151.5 (-110)

I prefer a bet on the total of 151.5 points in this meeting. In particular, the under (-110 odds) appears enticing in this contest. Given the respective sides on hand, I believe the total to be a little inflated here.

Over the past seven games, the Yellow Jackets have scored fewer than 70 points on five occasions. As alluded to, Coach Stoudamire's group has endured difficulties on offense. G.T. has only three players averaging double-digit figures in the scoring department -- none of which are over 15.0 PPG.

Across the court, WFU is an all-around team. In 2023-24, the Deacons are producing 78.9 PPG while allowing only 70.3 PPG. Still, Wake Forest has scored a bit less as of late, averaging 74.6 PPG over their past three bids.

Back at numberFire, the NCAAM game projections provide a 79.67-63.50 estimated score in favor of Wake Forest. In the totals category, that provides 143.7 combined points, which gives nearly eight points worth of cushion against 151.5. At standard pricing, I'll take the under in Winston-Salem.
