3 WNBA Prop Bets to Target for Tuesday 6/4/24

The WNBA season is rolling along, and FanDuel Sportsbook's WNBA odds offer a slew of ways to get in on the action via point spreads, totals, moneylines and player props.

In this article, we'll focus on the day's top prop bets. Let's dig in.

All WNBA odds are from FanDuel Sportsbook, and lines are subject to change after this article is published.

WNBA Prop Bets

Diana Taurasi Over 15.5 Points (-110)

Diana Taurasi turns 42 years old next week, but the WNBA's all-time leading scorer didn't hear no bell.

On Sunday, the Phoenix Mercury star scored a walloping 31 points on just 14 field-goal attempts (FGA). While I'm not expecting another earth-shattering shooting performance from Taurasi, I do think she is primed to clear her points prop in tonight's battle against the Seattle Storm.

The Storm are playing at the league's second-fastest pace, while the Mercury are operating at the third-fastest pace.

This season, Taurasi has played in four competitions against teams that rank in the top five of pace. In this split, she is averaging 20.0 points and cleared 15.5 points in all but one game, which came amid a 3-for-14 shooting night.

Although this is a small sample, it does speak to how tonight's game environment could positively impact Taurasi's scoring output. I also think it's noteworthy to consider that Sunday's 31-point performance is not included in the aforementioned pace split.

Taurasi has been playing 27.9 minutes per game this season. Last year, she averaged 18.7 points and scored over 15.5 points in 13 out of 19 games (68.4% of contests) wherein she logged more than 25 minutes.

This season, she has scored a minimum of 20 points in games where she shot above 40.0% from the field. Given her 40.3% FG% in 2023 and 40.7% FG% this go-around, I feel comfortable backing a 16-point night for Taurasi, who has one of the steadiest shot volumes in the league.

Angel Reese Over 9.5 Points (-118)

The Chicago Sky and New York Liberty will meet up for the second time this season, and Angel Reese could have 10 points in her bag.

Reese is averaging 10.6 points per game for the Sky. She scored 11-plus points in her first five games but failed to make the grade in her last two outings, going a combined 5-for-17 from the field in that span (29.4% FG%).

The good news is Reese hasn't been shy shooting the ball. She's taken at least eight FGA in all seven of her games and has taken at least nine FGA in all but one game. The bulk of her shots come from the paint, so she's getting looks from high-percentage areas.

Add in that she is averaging a team-leading 5.6 free-throw attempts per game (sixth-most in the WNBA), and the path to double-digits in the points column seems fairly straightforward.

Going against New York's third-best defense won't be an easy task, but this matchup should provide Reese with ample opportunities. For starters, Chicago will need her defense as they look to manage star bigs Breanna Stewart and Jonquel Jones.

The Liberty also give up the third-most FGA from the less than five-foot range. Reese shoots 8.1 out of 9.7 of her FGA from under five feet from the hoop, which is good for the second-most shot attempts from this range in the WNBA.

She mustered 13 points despite a 3-for-10 shooting night in her first meeting with New York. Look for a similar scoring output tonight.

Sabrina Ionescu Under 2.5 Made Threes (+118)

Let's stick with the same game and turn to an intriguing under.

Sabrina Ionescu is famous for her three-point shooting, but with +118 odds available, I'm willing to back a quiet night from downtown.

Ionescu has drained under 2.5 threes in six out of nine games. The -158 odds on the over for this prop are indicative of her league-best 3.6 three-point makes (3PM) average and 44.8% 3P% in the 2023 season.

While we should eventually see some regression in her shooting numbers, as she comes in with a 32.8% 3P%, it is worth noting that she owned a 32.5% 3P% and 33.3% 3P% in the 2021 and 2022 seasons, respectively.

Ionescu has nailed under 2.5 threes in all three of her road games this season. We saw a similar phenomenon last season, as Ionescu recorded less than 2.5 3PM in 50.0% of road games.

Chicago is not a friendly three-point matchup, either. They have let up just 19.0 3PA per game (fewest) this season and have surrendered the fewest 3PA for four straight years. This may be why Ionescu has hit the under at this line in 8 out of 11 regular-season games against Chicago in her career.
