Player props can be useful in a variety of ways -- from taking advantage of them straight up to measuring a player's potential to produce in daily fantasy hockey on FanDuel. Here, we're going to focus on the former.

Utilizing numberFire's projections as a guide, here are some NHL player props bets that look appealing via the NHL odds at FanDuel Sportsbook.

NHL Prop Bets

Joe Pavelski To Score a Goal (+200)

The Dallas Stars have a big 3.52 implied goal total tonight against the Ottawa Senators, which is the perfect matchup for them to right the ship.

The Stars are truly one of the best teams in the NHL but currently find themselves on a three-game losing streak. It's a long season and teams go through ups-and-downs but they're far better than the Senators and it's time to show that.

Since the start of February, the Senators are in the bottom eight of the NHL in both Goals Allowed (3.25) and Total Shot Attempts Allowed (64.79), both per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations.

Over that same time, the Stars are scoring the fifth-most (2.97) Goals per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations. This is the time for the Stars to really pile up the goals and pick up a win.

This leads me to Joe Pavelski, who has a very solid 29 shots on goal over his last 10 games, but not a single goal to show for it. He's seeing time on the third forward line and the first power-play unit, which should give him the chances to find the back of the net tonight.

Mikko Rantanen Over 3.5 Shots on Goal (-113)

With a declining defense on the other side, the Colorado Avalanche should flex their offense against the Detroit Red Wings tonight.

The Red Wings have shown flashes of upside this season but haven't put it all together for a long stretch of games. Currently, they are in a down-swing and the Avs have the type of offense where they can pile up the goals in a hurry.

Since the beginning of this month, the Red Wings are in the bottom three of the league in Goals Allowed (4.0) and Total Shot Attempts Allowed (67.8), both per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations. Much like the Senators above, these could be very lop-sided matchups.

As usual every year, the Avalanche are one of the best offenses and generating shot attempts, and this season are the ninth-best (62.11) in the league in Total Shot Attempts created.

We turn to Mikko Rantanen, who is averaging 3.3 shots on goal per game this year, while seeing time on the first forward line and the first power-play unit. Coming off a game where he recorded just a pair of shots on goal, he's primed to return to his normal level with this easy matchup.

Elias Lindholm Over 2.5 Shots on Goal (+125)

Another elite team primed for a rebound are the Vancouver Canucks.

A three-game losing streak for the team with the most points in the league is rather rare, so I'm buying in on them picking up the win.

They are up against the Seattle Kraken, who are a middle-of-the-road team defensively, as they allow 62.4 Total Shot Attempts per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations since the start of February, which is 13th in the league.

With Elias Lindholm on the first forward line and the first power-play unit, he should look to ramp up the offensive chances against this defense, along with the fact he's had just seven shots on goal over his last five games.

A slight dip in production isn't overly concerning since his role is consistent and he now has a solid matchup.
