Player props can be useful in a variety of ways -- from taking advantage of them straight up to measuring a player's potential to produce in daily fantasy hockey on FanDuel. Here, we're going to focus on the former.

Utilizing numberFire's projections as a guide, here are some NHL player props bets that look appealing via the NHL odds at FanDuel Sportsbook.

NHL Prop Bets

Adrian Kempe To Score a Goal (+200)

The Los Angeles Kings are visiting the Edmonton Oilers in what should be the game of the night in the NHL.

A 6.5 over/under sets this game up for plenty of offense on both sides, and it leads me to Adrian Kempe for a goal tonight.

Since the start of February, the Oilers have allowed 2.92 Goals per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations, which is the eighth-worst in the league. While the Oilers can pile up the goals on offense, their defense is slipping right now, and it sets things up for a high-scoring game.

When it comes to Kempe, he has 3 goals and 35 shots on goal over his last 10 games while skating on the first forward line and the first power-play unit. Two of the three goals came in the same game, so he's been held without a goal in eight of his last 10.

Kempe is currently on a three-game goalless streak but has a very solid 14 shots on goal in that time. In short, Kempe is firing the puck a ton, but the goals have been highly variable for him. With the weak Oilers defense on the other side, the odds for his goal prop are very much worth targeting given his scoring potential.

Jared McCann Over 2.5 Shots on Goal (-135)

The Seattle Kraken host a struggling Boston Bruins lineup that's on the last game of a four-game road trip.

The Bruins are a strong team, but they've just hit a bit of a slide in recent weeks. Over their last 10 games, the Bruins have just three wins and have allowed 65.19 Total Shot Attempts per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations, which is the fourth-worst in the league over that time.

That's not what we've traditionally seen from a strong defensive team, but it's a long season, and there are plenty of ups and downs for everyone. During that same stretch of time, the Kraken has generated the 10th-most (63.27) Total Shot Attempts, per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations.

I'll turn to Jared McCann, who has 15 shots on goal over his last five games while seeing time on the first forward line and the first power-play unit. This game might be a toss-up of who actually wins, but the shots should be there for McCann and the Kraken tonight.

Max Pacioretty Over 2.5 Shots on Goal (-110)

The Washington Capitals are dealing with a slew of injuries right now, which opens up opportunities for other players.

Given the changes in the lineup for the Capitals, sticking with the healthy players is the safest route to go, and this brings me to Max Pacioretty.

Pacioretty is on the third forward line and the second power-play unit, which isn't the best offensive role overall, but we need to dig a bit deeper.

Over the last 10 games, Pacioretty has 23 shots on goal while his linemates have 12 and 5 shots on goal. He has nearly double the shots of the next player, signaling he is the primary shooter for that forward line.

Much of the same can be said about the second power-play unit unless we see Alex Ovechkin double shifting on both power-play units. Even when that happens, Pacioretty still has the second-most shots on goal after Ovechkin.

The Capitals are up against the Ottawa Senators, who have allowed 63.08 Total Shot Attempts per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations, which is the eighth-worst in the league since the start of February.

Pacioretty is in the lineup and brings on the offense on his forward line, making him the one to target tonight.
