3 NBA Star Player Prop Bets for Friday 3/8/24

Player props are a fun way to get involved with the NBA each night, especially when it comes to the game's elite players.

That's what we'll focus on here -- prop bets for the NBA's best players via FanDuel Sportsbook's NBA Star Player Props.

Using FanDuel Research's daily basketball projections -- which are powered by numberFire -- as a guide, here are some NBA player prop bets that look appealing via the NBA odds at FanDuel Sportsbook.

NBA Prop Picks

Damian Lillard Over 6.5 Assists (+104)

The Milwaukee Bucks will clash with the Los Angeles Lakers tonight, leaving Damian Lillard in a solid spot to produce in the passing game.

On the season, Los Angeles has surrendered the 10th-most assists per game to point guards. They've let up the seventh-most in this split over their last 30 games as well as the second-most over their last seven games.

Lillard, meanwhile, is averaging 6.7 assists per game. He has exceeded 6.5 assists in 51.7% of his games.

In contests where Lillard played for at least 30 minutes, he is averaging 6.9 assists and clearing 6.5 dimes at a 52.9% rate.

These +104 odds suggest just a 49.02% probability, so there is some value to be had with this prop.

A Lakers-Bucks showdown pits two fast-paced teams against each other. The Bucks play at the fifth-fastest pace in the NBA while the Lakers are right behind them, playing at the sixth-fastest.

Lillard has done well for himself in high-paced games. In 17 contests against teams ranked in the top 10 in pace, he is averaging 7.1 dimes per game.

This matchup features a 1.0-point spread. Lillard has suited up in 11 games with a spread of 4.0 points or fewer. In this split, he is averaging 7.6 assists.

FanDuel Research's projections have him recording 7.7 assists in this one. Not bad considering the +104 odds.

LeBron James Over 6.5 Rebounds (-124)

Let's stick with the same game and check out LeBron James' rebounding prop.

LeBron averages 7.1 rebounds per game and is in a good spot to grab boards against the Bucks, a team that lets up the 12th-most rebounds per game.

But similar to Lillard, the pace of this game is key.

LeBron has participated in 15 games against teams that rank in the top 12 of pace, and as mentioned, LA and Milwaukee are fifth and sixth, respectively, in pace. In this split, he exceeded 6.5 boards in 14 out of 15 contests.

Close spreads are also LeBron's friend -- 26 of LeBron's games have tipped with a 4.0-point spread or closer. In this span, he is averaging 8.2 rebounds.

If we factor in a minimum 230.0 over/under to the aforementioned split with tight spreads -- tonight's game features a 230.5 over/under -- LeBron's rebound average moves up to 8.9.

It's worth noting that he is also averaging 28.0 points and 9.2 assists in this 17-game sample, so I'd consider him across the board in both prop and DFS markets tonight.

Our projections expect 7.8 rebounds out of LeBron this evening.

**Editor's Note: James was ruled out due to injury on Friday. This will be voided and is no longer available at FanDuel.**

Jalen Brunson Under 29.5 Points (-118)

Mum's the word on Jalen Brunson's playing status for tonight, but if he's good to go, I am backing him to be held under 30 points.

Brunson (knee) was listed as questionable for Tuesday's game but didn't end up playing. He has a questionable designation for tonight's meeting with the Orlando Magic, but given that he was an option for Tuesday's game, there has to be hope that he can play tonight.

The New York Knicks and Magic are two of the best teams in the league at creating less-than-desirable scoring conditions.

The Knicks play at the slowest pace in the NBA while the Magic play at the fifth-slowest pace. Orlando owns the fourth-best defensive rating and New York touts the 11th-best.

Add in that Orlando is surrendering the second-fewest (tied) points per game while New York gives up the fourth-fewest, and it's easy to see why this game's over/under is at a lowly 204.0 points.

Brunson is one of the best scorers in the league, especially in the time since Julius Randle and OG Anunoby have been sidelined. But even still, he has scored under 29.5 points in 5 out of 12 games with these players out -- not accounting for Sunday's one-minute game.

Once we factor in a potential injury limitation and the treacherous game environment, Brunson does not seem primed to crack 30.

Our projections have Brunson slated to score just 24.4 points against a tough Magic team.
