3 MLB Prop Bets to Target on Monday 6/17/24

Player props can be useful in a variety of ways -- from taking advantage of them straight up to measuring a player's potential to produce in daily fantasy baseball on FanDuel. Here, we're going to focus on the former.

Utilizing our projections -- which are powered by numberFire -- as a guide, here are some MLB player props bets that look appealing via the MLB odds at FanDuel Sportsbook.

Please note that betting lines and projections may change throughout the day after this article is published. Also, the weather may be an issue in some locations.

MLB Player Props

Adolis Garcia to Record an RBI (+125)

The struggles of the Texas Rangers hasn't been a secret this season, but their offense has too good of a matchup tonight against the New York Mets to ignore.

New York will have David Peterson on the mound tonight. The left-hander hasn't done too great of a job this season in his starts, entering the game with a 4.88 SIERA, 4.32 ERA, and 4.47 FIP. Peterson isn't hiding anything as he's performed to his expected levels in three starts.

He's coming off a start against a bad Miami Marlins team where he allowed four runs in five innings. In 16 2/3 innings total, he's already let up 20 hits -- leading to a 1.50 WHIP.

This brings us to Adolis Garcia tonight, who I like to Record an RBI (+125).

Garcia hasn't been the same hitter he was a year ago, but he still drives in runs for the Rangers. The outfielder is hitting just .216 overall but is far better against lefties. His average goes up to .250 while adding a .326 wOBA, .771 OPS, and .211 ISO against southpaws. This is the matchup to ride with him.

Hitting third gives him the best shot to deliver. With 40 RBIs this season, it's clear that the one thing he still does consistently is get runners home for Texas.

Let's trust in Garcia for tonight's contest.

Kyle Schwarber to Record 2+ Total Bases (+100)

From one power hitter to another, I like Kyle Schwarber a lot tonight. Let's nab him to Record 2+ Total Bases (+100) against the San Diego Padres.

Schwarber has been his usual self for the Philadelphia Phillies this season. After hitting over 45 home runs in his last two seasons, the designated hitter isn't on that exact pace with 14 home runs thus far, but he's always been a June and on type of hitter. It shows, as he's hitting .372 with a .212 ISO and .847 OPS this month. That has included two doubles and three homers -- which is beneficial to our prop for him tonight.

The Phillies have a sizable 5.28 implied total tonight against the Padres, per numberFire's heat map. This is the night to run with Schwarber (and more) against starter Randy Vasquez.

Vasquez has had it tough on the bump -- most notably allowing 8 home runs in just 38 1/3 innings thus far. Beyond that is an inflated 4.93 ERA, an even worse 5.95 expected ERA (xERA), a 5.21 FIP, 1.88 HR/9, and a 4.41 SIERA.

He has a brutal time against lefties specifically, allowing them to hit .448 off him with a .513 wOBA and 2.56 WHIP.

All of this lines up as well for Philly's leadoff man.

Shohei Ohtani to Record 4+ Total Bases (+100)

Shohei Ohtani hitting at Coors Field. Must I say more for tonight? The two-time MVP is in a great spot for a huge game tonight, so I like him to Record 4+ Total Bases (+100).

The designated hitter has 19 home runs on the campaign, hitting two on Sunday against the Kansas City Royals. While we are going with total bases tonight, I still like the slugger to Hit a Home Run (+168), too.

He currently ranks fifth in wOBA (.416), fifth in ISO (.284), fifth in OPS (.976) and has 39 extra-base hits overall as we near the halfway point of the season.

numberFire's heat map has the Dodgers set at an insane 6.70 implied total -- unsurprisingly the best of the day. That spells trouble for the Colorado Rockies and their starting pitcher Cal Quantrill.

Quantrill has pitched 29 innings at Coors Field this year, allowing five of the eight home runs he's let up. In 14 total starts, the Rockies' starter has a 4.65 SIERA, 4.11 xERA, and 4.34 FIP. Lefties also drive the ball against Quantrill at a 40.6% hard-hit rate.

Ohtani is one of the best hitters in baseball and has everything working in his favor tonight.
