MLB Player Props

Yordan Alvarez to Record a Single (-125)

Let's change it up off the bat and roll with Yordan Alvarez to Record a Single (-125).

The Houston Astros face the Los Angeles Angels and their starter Griffin Canning in tonight's contest.

Canning has had a rough go this season, and it's why the Astros have the best implied total of the day at 4.79 runs, per numberFire's heat map.

Los Angeles' starter has a 4.69 ERA and 4.86 SIERA this season, underperforming as a great pitcher for hitters to punish. Canning has had a rough time missing bats, accruing a 16.4% strikeout rate and allowing a 42.3% flyball rate. It's going to be a good night for the Astros with Alvarez being the batter I want from the lineup.

Alvarez remains an offensive disruptor with a .364 wOBA, and .285 batting average. Out of his 68 hits on the campaign, 44 of them have been singles. The designated hitter has a hit in 8 of his last 9 games with 9 of his 14 hits being singles.

For an Astros team still struggling to piece things together, Alvarez is the best hitter to look toward in their lineup.

Julio Rodriguez to Record 2+ Total Bases (-140)

It hasn't been a banner year for Julio Rodriguez, but it's hard to pass up on the outfielder when he's batting against a lefty.

J-Rod is hitting .328 against southpaws. In a third of the at-bats that he has against righties, Rodriguez has the same amount of extra-base hits (5). This results in a .365 wOBA, .134 ISO, .463 slugging, and .829 OPS in the split.

numberFire's heat map has the Seattle Mariners locked into the second-best implied total of the day at 4.69 runs.

The left-handed starter for the Kansas City Royals will be Daniel Lynch. He's only pitched 12 innings and has had a strong 1.50 ERA. When you five deeper, however, you can see that Lynch is still posting numbers similar to the rest of this career. The lefty has a 4.44 SIERA and 4.72 FIP. Lynch's most notable stat is the 57.1% hard-hit rate he's allowed -- a rate that can only mean problems for him soon enough.

Rodriguez has hits in 9 of his last 12 games; he's starting to turn things around. This is the time to get him, so take the outfielder to Record 2+ Total Bases (-140).

Spencer Steer to Record an RBI (+120)

The Cincinnati Reds are have been slugging at the plate all week to warrant attention, and that brings us to tonight's third prop bet to consider.

Cincinnati is going head-to-head with the Chicago Cubs and their starting pitcher, Justin Steele.

Steele hasn't had the same success that he had in 2023, sporting a 4.10 ERA, 3.86 SIERA, 4.42 FIP, and 1.45 HR/9. The shortcomings are apparent this year and it doesn't stop there. The lefty is also watching hitters drive the ball better than usual against himl his 35.5% hard-hit rate against and 42.1% flyball rate are both the worst in his career to this point.

That brings us to Spencer Steer, who I like to Record an RBI (+120) in the game.

Steer ranks 15th in the majors with 40 RBIs -- a solid output from the Reds' cleanup hitter. He thrives against left-handed hurlers with a .370 wOBA, .246 ISO, .492 slugging, and .859 OPS. The first baseman has recorded five RBIs in the last four games, so let's expect him to keep it up in a solid matchup.
