3 MLB FanDuel Studs to Target for Friday 7/7/23

In daily fantasy baseball on FanDuel, rostering the right high-salaried studs is an important aspect of building lineups.

For hitters, we're looking for guys with big numbers, strong matchups, and players around them who are likely to produce, as well, increasing our chances for runs and RBI. For pitchers, we want big strikeout numbers, while the ability to go deep in a game and pick up a win is also valuable.

With these high-salary picks playing such a big role in your lineup, you can't afford to miss on these guys, so let's take a look at a few top high-salary plays for today's main slate.

Zac Gallen, SP, Arizona Diamondbacks ($10,100)

Zac Gallen is having a very solid season for the first-placed Arizona Diamondbacks. He's currently the favorite for the NL CY Young award, and he has a good matchup on Friday.

Gallen doesn't quite have the gaudy strikeout numbers that some top pitchers do, but his 26.8% strikeout is still solid. His most impressive number might be his minuscule 5.1% walk rate, the ninth-best among qualified pitchers.

He will take on a Pittsburgh Pirates lineup that is below average against right-handed pitching. They strikeout 22.3% of the time against righties while sporting a 96 weighted runs created plus (wRC+)

Gallen has the second-best projection at pitcher on tonight's slate, according to numberFire's model. The Diamondbacks are -200 favorites tonight, so Gallen should be able to pick up a win, which makes him an excellent option tonight.

Luis Robert Jr, OF, Chicago White Sox ($4,200)

Not many players in the MLB are experiencing quite the breakout season like Luis Robert.

The Chicago White Sox outfielder has career best numbers in a number of categories, including home runs, despite only being halfway through the season. His power has been impressive, sporting a .297 isolated slugging percentage (ISO) and a 15.2% barrel percentage.

Robert will face a left-hander tonight in Jordan Montgomery. He has been particularly good against lefties, with a 203 wRC+ and a .464 weighted on-base average (wOBA).

At $4,200, Robert is a nice option as he clearly has the power upside to be a good addition to tournament lineups.

Corey Seager, SS, Texas Rangers, ($4,200)

Corey Seager is proving he is worth that huge contract the Texas Rangers gave him in the 2021 offseason. He's having a career year and has a very nice matchup tonight.

Seager currently has a career-high wOBA (.436) and a career-high wRC+ (184). The Statcast data backs this up, as he's barreling the ball a massive 18.8% of the time, by far the best in his career. That would be the third-best in baseball if he had enough plate appearances to qualify.

The Rangers will face Trevor Williams , who will be on the mound for the Washington Nationals. Williams has not been good this year, with an expected ERA (xERA) of 5.23. He also allows opponents to barrel the ball 11.0% of the time.

Seager and Texas have an implied team total of 5.56 runs, the second-highest on tonight's slate. He should be in a position to do damage and is a good play in all formats tonight.
