It's hard to describe Zach Ertz's fantasy football production as anything more than "disappointing" in 2020. Even with the Philadelphia Eagles' receiving corps incredibly short-handed, Ertz had just 20 receptions, 145 yards and 1 touchdown across his first five games.
Things are somehow getting even worse now, however, as Ertz made an early exit from Sunday's loss to the Baltimore Ravens due to an ankle injury.
Ertz hasn't been effective, but he's been busy. Heading into Week 6, his 35 targets were a team-high and he'd played at least 90% of the team's offensive snaps in four straight games. He also tied for the team-high with 10 targets against the Ravens.
The Eagles may be getting DeSean Jackson back in Week 7, but losing Ertz (especially while Dallas Goedert is likely still out) should mean there's still plenty of volume to go around. The big beneficiary looks to be Travis Fulgham, who turned 10 targets into 6 receptions, 75 yards and 1 touchdown in Week 6. That followed a 10-catch, 152-yard game in Week 5, and he appears to be emerging as the No. 1 receiving option in Philly.
At this point, it's going to be hard to trust Ertz even if he does play. He's been incredibly inefficient, and adding in a bum ankle isn't going to do him any favors.
