XFL Week 5 Fantasy Picks: Start 'Em, Sit 'Em for New York Guardians vs Dallas Renegades
By Max Staley

We're through four weeks of XFL action, and the 2020 season is already bringing plenty of surprises. We still have one undefeated team, the Houston Roughnecks, who are now +185 favorites to win the XFL Championship, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
With things starting to shake out into more predictable patterns, both on the team and player levels, we're starting to get a much better idea of what we can expect in any given week.
With that in mind, here are the top XFL Week 5 fantasy picks for the New York Guardians and Dallas Renegades.

Start Darius Victor, RB, New York Guardians: Darius Victor has seemingly taken control of the New York Guardians backfield. He's seen double-digit carries in back-to-back games, after being held to 9 or fewer in his first two outings. That volume has netted some decent return, as he had 82 rush yards (4.5 yards per carry) in Week 4, and 50 rush yards (5.0 YPC) in Week 3. With all the uncertainty surrounding the QB position in NY, the Guardians could look to feed Victor in Week 5.
Start Cameron Artis-Payne, RB, Dallas Renegades: Landry Jones is likely out for this one, and that could lead to some increased volume for Cameron Artis-Payne. While his worst game of the season came in Week 1, also without Jones, CAP only had 2 carries in that one so it's hard to fault him too much. He has never carried the ball more than 14 times, but has still racked up 216 rushing yards (No. 4 in the XFL). If he sees a heavy workload with Jones sidelined, CAP could be in for a nice outing.

Sit Tim Cook, RB, New York Guardians: As Victor has emerged, Tim Cook has taken a backseat. He's been held below 10 carries in back-to-back weeks, averaging 41.0 rushing yards during that stretch. While he did reach 50 rushing yards in Week 3, 33 of those came on just one play, meaning he was held to 8 carries for 17 yards otherwise. Victor just looks like the more consistent option right now, and that makes Cook a risky start.
Sit Donald Parham, TE, Dallas Renegades: Through four weeks, Donald Parham has been one of the best pass-catchers in the XFL, regardless of position. However, with Jones set to miss Week 5, Parham's value will likely take a huge hit. It's no coincidence that Parham's worst outing (4 receptions, 40 yards) came in the lone game that Jones missed this season. Sitting the man with the second-most receiving yards in the league might be tough, but this isn't a great spot for him.
