With the XFL set to begin its revival season in early 2020, football fans no longer have to worry about finding other sports to watch for the weeks immediately following the Super Bowl.

That is, if the XFL is able to work out one critical detail first: its own footballs.

The XFL is looking for footballs that will help distinguish it from the NFL and other professional leagues, adding to the league's unique brand. The XFL is hosting eight "Summer Showcases," in which roster hopefuls can demonstrate their skills and ideally get signed to a roster.

The XFL also plans on using these showcases to try out the new balls, and to get some feedback from the coaches and players on the unique pigskins.

The balls tested at these showcases are all brown with white laces and feature some variety of a purple and white X over each nose. While the tint of the brown varies slightly from each of the test balls pictured above, the major difference appears to be the texture.

With buzz around the new footballs reminding many of the old XFL balls that were used during the inaugural 2001 season of the league, let's just hope that the league – and its new footballs – can have more success in its second go around.
