NFL teams are starting to take shape for next season as free agency continues, but safety Xavier Woods is still in search of a place to call home. Woods put together a solid 2020 season racking up 72 tackles (2 for loss) and 1 pass breakup in 15 games played.

At 25 years old, Woods is the type of player that can still improve as a starting safety and be looked towards as a reliable defender on many teams. With that being said, here are three of the best remaining free-agent destinations for Woods.

Xavier Woods Free Agency

1. Jacksonville Jaguars

The Jaguars entered free agency with a ton of cap space available to use and signed safety Rayshawn Jenkins to a huge deal. However, they still have a glaring need at the position and could sign Woods in order to create some depth. The Jaguars are in rebuild mode and Woods has the youth to become a future franchise player. He has had at least 70 tackles in two of the last three seasons and 4 interceptions during that same span. He would be a welcome addition to this team.

2. Las Vegas Raiders

The Raiders are another team with an obvious need for help at the safety position. Strong safety Jonathan Abram has shown he has the talent to succeed in the NFL, but free safety Jeff Heath has always been a rotational type of player. Bringing in Woods would allow the team to have more youth and talent on the defense without having to break the bank. For a team that gave up 263.2 passing yards per game last season (No. 25 in the NFL), the Raiders would benefit from signing Woods.

3. Minnesota Vikings

The Vikings lost starter Anthony Harris to free agency this offseason and are now in search for someone to line up alongside Harrison Smith. Woods would make the perfect addition here as he was coached by current Vikings DB coach Karl Scott during his time at Louisiana Tech. Immediately slotting in as a starter, Woods has the playmaking abilities to bring a spark to this Vikings defense. Minnesota wants to challenge the Green Bay Packers for the NFC North division title and a move like this would certainly boost their chances at doing so.
