Would You Rather: Draft Davante Adams or Tyreek Hill for 2021 Fantasy Football

Fantasy managers slated to draft towards the end of the first round have a tough choice to make. Most of the top running backs are gone at this point and taking the first wide receiver off the board seems like the best option. However, choosing between Davante Adams and Tyreek Hill is not easy.
These are two of the best playmakers in the NFL, so let's break this decision down.

Davante Adams Fantasy Outlook
Davante Adams put together one of the best seasons the NFL has seen from a wide receiver for quite some time in 2020. In fact, he finished as the No. 1 WR in PPR leagues despite missing two games due to injury. Adams ended up hauling in 115 of his 149 targets for 1,374 yards and 18 touchdowns.
The consistent ability to score multiple touchdowns in one game is what really separates Adams from the rest of the pack. The 28-year-old achieved the feat five times last season as a red zone monster on the Green Bay Packers. Adams blew out the rest of the team with 20 targets within the 10-yard line and posted an overall target share of 34.1%.
It may seem like having Aaron Rodgers throwing Adams' way makes him the better pick here, but Hill is playing with Patrick Mahomes. If Adams' can stay healthy, he has a shot to repeat as the top wide receiver in fantasy football. The guy simply doesn't take a break.
Tyreek Hill Fantasy Outlook
Rostering the No. 1 WR on one of the highest scoring NFL offenses is never a bad idea. Tyreek Hill averaged a reliable 14.7 yards per reception on his way to totaling 1,399 yards from scrimmage in 2020. He also scored a career-high 15 touchdowns and finished as the No. 2 WR in PPR leagues.
The Kansas City Chiefs said goodbye to Sammy Watkins this past offseason, which may even lead to an uptick in targets for Hill. Since his rookie season, the 27-year-old has finished no worse than WR4 when he's played more than 10 games. His chemistry with Mahomes is as steady as ever.
The only thing that gives Hill a disadvantage over Adams is the fact that he is involved in an offense with Travis Kelce. The Pro Bowl tight end is a lock to see 100-plus targets this fall and ultimately caps any kind of upside Hill has to outperform his performance from last season.
Davante Adams or Tyreek Hill
Keep in mind that the difference between these two wide receivers is likely just a few fantasy points. With that being said, Adams is the better pick given Rodgers has no choice but to feed him the ball as often as possible. His role is much more vital to the Packers' success than Hill's is to the Chiefs.
Adams checks in at WR2 in The Duel's 2021 fantasy football rankings, while Hill takes the top spot at WR1.
