Will Fuller Fantasy Outlook Includes Extreme Boom-or-Bust Value in 2020

The term "boom or bust" gets thrown around quite a bit these days. We're certainly guilty of that ourselves. But there might not be a more boom-or-bust player in the league than Houston Texans wide receiver Will Fuller.
As such, he's an incredibly difficult player to evaluate. The tantalizing ceiling is there, but his floor is still as low as anyone's.

Will Fuller Fantasy Football Outlook
Fuller currently carries an average draft position (ADP) of WR34 in fantasy football. While that feels just about right, it's hard to imagine the Notre Dame product actually finishing in that range next season. All signs point to him either massively outperforming or underperforming that slot.
He's one of the most explosive players in the league when healthy, as evidenced by the 217-yard, 3-touchdown performance he totaled on 14 catches in Week 5. He also had a 140-yard day in Week 12. Those highs were high, but his lows were just as low. He finished with fewer than 15 receiving yards three times last season.
Fuller has notably never played a full 16-game campaign despite entering the NFL in 2016. He's missed a combined 20 games over the last three seasons – including five last year. That myriad of injuries also led him to leave a ton of games early, which is pretty much the worst-case scenario for fantasy managers.

Fuller is a fine player to target at his ADP, but don't view him as a no-doubt, every-week starter. He might be able to singlehandedly win you a week or two, but fantasy managers should have a back-up plan ready for his inevitable soft-tissue injury. That boom-or-bust value makes him especially valuable in best ball drafts, where you get to capture all of his "boom" weeks without the risk that you get a dud when you start him.
We have Fuller ranked as the WR31 in our 2020 rankings.
