With less than a month left in the MLB regular season, the Chicago White Sox are in firm control of the AL Central division race. Chicago leads the division by 10.0 games and must turn their attention toward getting fully healthy for a deep run in October.

On Tuesday night, Chicago did suffer some concerning news on the injury front when starting pitcher Lucas Giolito exited his start early with a pulled hamstring. Just one out into the fifth inning, Giolito was removed with this hamstring tightness and he revealed the extent of the injury following the game.

Giolito downplayed the issue while citing a similar hamstring issue he suffered back in 2019. While the starting pitcher insists last night's hamstring issue wasn't as severe, this 2019 example is concerning considering he missed nearly three weeks of action during that span.

Chicago's division lead is much in part to their stellar starting pitcher. The entire Chicago pitching staff ranks eighth in the MLB with a 3.74 team ERA. Giolito, in his sixth MLB season, has been a workhorse and leads the American League with 27 starts to the tune of a 3.69 ERA. Chicago has won 13 of the games that Giolito starts.

This is an injury situation worth monitoring. It will be curious if manager Tony La Russa and his staff decide to skip Giolito's next start. The White Sox retain the third-best odds (+800) to win the World Series on FanDuel Sportsbook.
