White Sox News: Chicago Gets Great Eloy Jimenez Injury Update
The Chicago White Sox are one of the best teams in baseball, currently sporting a 41-24 record and sitting atop the AL Central. Impressively, they've got to this point while weathering through injuries to key players, like Eloy Jimenez.
The White Sox left fielder suffered a torn pectoral in Spring Training that put him on the shelf indefinitely. But the 24-year-old reached a major milestone in his rehab on Monday.
Eloy Jimenez Injury
The club announced that Jimenez has been medically cleared to return to baseball activities. This incredible news means the slugger can begin to work himself back into game shape at the team's facility in Arizona.
Jimenez getting back on the diamond is a huge step in his injury recovery. The team said that his training will take a minimum of four weeks and a minor league rehab stint would follow before any return to the majors.
The left fielder racked up 14 home runs and 41 RBI for the White Sox during the shortened 2020 season after finishing fourth in AL Rookie of the Year voting in 2019. Getting that kind of production back in the lineup ahead of a possible World Series run could be what gives this team the edge as they look to make noise in the postseason.
