The Chicago White Sox have one of the best records in baseball and they've attained that while dealing with injuries to key contributors. Pitcher Michael Kopech has been on the shelf since May 26 due to a hamstring injury, but he's making progress in his injury recovery.
And Kopech is now taking another important step in his rehab.
Michael Kopech Injury Update
The White Sox announced Kopech is scheduled to throw a simulated game on Friday, which is great news. Hopefully Kopech gets through the sim game without an issues and can continue to ramp up his work while targeting a return to the club.
Kopech has been nothing short of stellar this year. He's 2-0 with a 1.72 ERA across 31.3 innings pitched. He also racked up 45 strikeouts before being sidelined.
Chicago currently owns the third-best record in the AL at 44-30 and is one of the favorites to contend for the World Series. Kopech coming back healthy will give Chicago a huge boost as they prepare for fall baseball and a postseason run.
