The Atlanta Falcons (1-6) go on the road to take on the Carolina Panthers (3-4) in an NFC South division battle on Thursday Night Football in Week 8. In what is expected to be a close game, the Panthers are currently 2.5-point favorites, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
If you need some help with your fantasy football lineups, here's some start 'em, sit 'em advice for this Week 8 showdown.
Who Should I Start Fantasy Football
Start Todd Gurley, RB, Atlanta Falcons: Todd Gurley has performed well as the starting running back for the Falcons as he has posted 47-plus rushing yards in each game this season and is tied for the league lead with 7 touchdowns. He draws a decent matchup in Week 8 as the Panthers are giving up 4.9 yards per carry so far this season (T-No. 26 in the NFL). In fact, Gurley had his best game of the season against the Panthers in Week 5 when he rushed for 121 yards on 14 carries and scored a touchdown. Don't be surprised he finds the end zone again this week and has another solid game.
Start Teddy Bridgewater, QB, Carolina Panthers: If there is any matchup to plug Teddy Bridgewater into your fantasy lineup and forget about it, it is this one. The Falcons are giving up 333.4 passing yards per game this season (No. 31 in the NFL) and Bridgewater is coming off a game in which he had 28 pass attempts compared to the team's 14 rushing attempts. We could see another shootout in this matchup, which means Bridgewater could be called upon to carry the offense once again. Back in Week 5, Bridgewater torched the Falcons for 313 passing yards and 2 touchdowns. There's no reason he couldn't put up those kinds of numbers again this time around.
Sit Hayden Hurst, TE, Atlanta Falcons: Hayden Hurst has been a consistent contributor on the Falcons' offense this season, racking up 295 receiving yards and 3 touchdowns. However, Hurst draws a tough matchup this week against a Panthers defense that has given up just 253 yards to tight ends all season (No. 5 in the NFL). Plus, the Panthers have only allowed a tight end to reach the end zone just three times so far. Hurst had 2 receptions for 8 yards against the Panthers in Week 5.
Sit Curtis Samuel, WR, Carolina Panthers: Curtis Samuel is the No. 3 receiving option on the Panthers' offense behind D.J. Moore and the emergence of Robby Anderson. While Samuel has caught at least 2 passes in each game this season, he has yet to surpass 51 receiving yards. Samuel also hasn't scored a touchdown and doesn't see the number of targets necessary in the redzone to be worthy of a start this week.
