Week 4 Fantasy Picks: Start 'Em, Sit 'Em for Washington vs Falons

Two teams looking to get back to a .500 record meet head-to-head in Week 4 as the Washington Football Team takes on the Atlanta Falcons. FanDuel Sportsbook has Washington slated as slight 1.5-point road favorites in a game that is expected to come down to the last few minutes.
If you need some help with your fantasy lineups, here's some start 'em, sit 'em advice for this Week 4 showdown.
Logan Thomas Fantasy
Start Logan Thomas, TE, Washington Football Team: Tight end Logan Thomas continues to build off his stellar 2020 season. The veteran pass-catcher has now scored a touchdown in two of the first three weeks and has seen 14 targets overall. It is clear that he is a security blanket for quarterback Taylor Heinicke and draws a great matchup in Week 4. The Falcons are giving up the seventh-most PPR fantasy points to opposing tight ends and have already allowed 3 touchdowns to the position. That ties for the highest mark in the NFL. Thomas should have no issue posting TE1 numbers this week.
Matt Ryan Fantasy
Start Matt Ryan, QB, Atlanta Falcons: Choosing to stream a quarterback can be a tricky decision to make, but Matt Ryan has a lot of upside this week. It's notable to point out that Washington's defense has taken a real step down. The team currently ranks 16th in pass defense DVOA ratings after finishing in second last season. Washington is also giving up the most fantasy points to opposing QBs through the first three weeks. With a healthy arsenal of offensive weapons to work with, Ryan should be able to move the ball down the field on Sunday. He could sneak into QB1 territory this week.
JD McKissic Fantasy
Sit JD McKissic, RB, Washington Football Team: Running back JD McKissic put together a massive game in Week 2 (93 total yards, 1 touchdown), but his role in the backfield remains as the change-of-pace player. That was clear in Week 3 as he saw just 5 touches compared to starter Antonio Gibson's total of 13. Keep in mind McKissic has yet to appear in more than 46% of the offensive snaps in any of the first three games. He likely won't see many opportunities in Week 4 against a Falcons' defense that has posted the sixth-best rush defense DVOA rating so far. McKissic is merely a handcuff right now.
Cordarrelle Patterson Fantasy
Sit Cordarrelle Patterson, RB/WR, Atlanta Falcons: The Falcons may have gotten a steal in signing offensive playmaker Cordarrelle Patterson this past offseason. He makes a big impact in the passing game, but Washington presents his first real test. This defense has given up just 8 receptions to opposing running backs in 2021, which is tied for the lowest total in the NFL. Patterson has seen 7 carries in each of the first three weeks, which gives him a little bit of upside as a rusher. However, it isn't nearly enough to be a reliable FLEX option this week. Keep him on the bench for now.
