The Pittsburgh Steelers will aim to grab their fifth consecutive win when they host the winless Detroit Lions in Week 10 NFL action. FanDuel Sportsbook has the Steelers slated as 9-point home favorites in a game that features some of the biggest names in fantasy football.
If you need some help with your fantasy lineups, here's some start 'em, sit 'em advice for this Week 10 showdown.
TJ Hockenson Fantasy
Start TJ Hockenson, TE, Detroit Lions: TJ Hockenson was drafted as a high-end TE1 in many fantasy football leagues and he is finally starting to post those kind of numbers. The former Iowa standout has hauled in 24 of his team-high 31 targets for 179 yards over the last three weeks. Detroit is likely going to be playing from behind in this one and that should allow Hockenson to get peppered with targets from quarterback Jared Goff. The Pro Bowl TE is averaging a career-high 56.0 receiving yards per game and can be trusted as a safe TE1 this week.
Pittsburgh Steelers D/ST Fantasy
Start Pittsburgh Steelers D/ST: The Steelers have been able to win football games solely based off the efforts of their shutdown defense. Pittsburgh is giving up 21.1 points per game (T-No. 8 in NFL) as well as only 354.2 total yards per contest (No. 14 in NFL). The Lions come to town averaging the fifth-fewest yards per play in the NFL (5.0) and have not scored more than 20 points since Week 1. This is a matchup that the Steelers can exploit, especially given the struggles of Goff. The Detroit QB has posted 5 turnovers in his last four starts. Start the Pittsburgh D/ST unit with confidence this week.
D'Andre Swift Fantasy
Sit D'Andre Swift, RB, Detroit Lions: Fantasy managers rostering D'Andre Swift likely cannot afford to sit him, but this is a terrible matchup for the second-year pro. The Steelers have posted the ninth-best rush defense DVOA rating in the NFL and are allowing the third-fewest PPR fantasy points to opposing RBs. Swift makes a living out of dump-off passes and screens, yet Pittsburgh is one of two teams that has yet to give up a receiving touchdown to a RB this season. That definitely limits Swift's upside and makes him a legitimate sit candidate this week. Avoid starting him if you can.
Ben Roethlisberger Fantasy
Sit Ben Roethlisberger, QB, Pittsburgh Steelers: Starting quarterbacks that are facing the Lions has been a successful strategy for many fantasy managers over the last few years. However, veteran Ben Roethlisberger has shown no reason to be trusted this week. The 18th-year pro has thrown for over 300 yards just once this season and averages a disappointing 6.7 yards per completion. Keep in mind that Roethlisberger has not posted 20 fantasy points in any game this year. The Steelers will likely lean on the rushing attack if they get ahead early in this one and that limits any chance Big Ben has to ball out in Week 10. He's not worth a start on Sunday.
