Defensive lineman Chase Young looked like he fit right in with the big dogs during his rookie season, playing a huge role on a defense that gave up just 21.2 points per game (T-5th in NFL). He enters his second season with the Washington Football Team as a legit Defensive Player of the Year candidate.
Chase Young News
Young currently has odds set at +1100 to take home the DPOY award next season, according to FanDuel Sportsbook. That mark trails only the Los Angeles Rams' Aaron Donald (+500), Cleveland Browns' Myles Garrett (+600) and Pittsburgh Steelers' T.J. Watt (+750).
The young defense playmaker's odds also rank ahead of veteran defensive studs such as Los Angeles Chargers' Joey Bosa (+1700) and Chicago Bears' Khalil Mack (+2400).
Last year, the former Ohio State Buckeye racked up 44 tackles, 7.5 sacks, 4 forced fumbles and 4 passes defended. He was constantly disrupting opposing offenses on his way to being named to his first Pro Bowl. Young easily captured the Defensive Rookie of the Year award as well.
Now, Young has the opportunity to step up his game after going through what is his first full offseason with the team. His upside simply seems endless right now so don't be shocked if he ends up challenging some of the top defensive players in the NFL for the coveted award.
