As NFL training camps are beginning, teams are inviting free agents to come and try out to help flesh out their roster. The Minnesota Vikings are one of those team's as they'll be hosting former Jacksonville Jaguars wideout Dede Westbrook for a free-agent visit on Saturday, according to NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport.
Westbrook is coming off of a season-ending torn ACL injury that he suffered in Week 7 last year and has been linked to Minnesota throughout the offseason.

Aside from Adam Thielen and Justin Jefferson, the Vikings don't have a lot of standout wide receivers, which makes sense as to why they'd look at Westbrook. After all, at worst, he can be a depth option in case anyone needs rest or gets injured. At best, he can be that No. 3 wideout if he can return to the player he was a few seasons ago.
Westbrook's best stretch as a Jaguar was across the 2018 and 2019 NFL seasons. During that span, he recorded 132 receptions on 202 targets (65.3%) for 1,377 yards and 8 touchdowns in 31 games. Considering how ACL injuries have a high recovery rate, there's a solid chance that Westbrook can put up those kind of numbers for the Vikings if he makes the team.
The fact that Minnesota WR coach Keenan McCardell had the same job with the Jaguars from 2017 to 2020 could be the key to getting Westbrook back on track.
The Vikings have +4000 odds to win Super Bowl 56 next season, according to FanDuel Sportsbook, which ranks 18th-best across the NFL.
