Vikings Linked to Two Exciting Free Agents
Free-agent negotiations have officially begun around the NFL, and some teams are already making splashy moves. Even without a ton of cap space at their disposal, the Minnesota Vikings could make a splash of their own this offseason as they hope to rebound from a poor 2020 season.
Vikings Free Agent Rumors
Minnesota has been linked to two exciting players in this early stage of free agency.
The Vikings are said to be in the running for guard Joe Thuney and cornerback Shaquill Griffin, who would be major upgrades for this roster.
Thuney has started in each game since entering the league in 2016, earning recognition as one of the best at his position. The 6-foot-5, 308-pound guard earned a 74.2 grade from ProFootballFocus during the 2020 campaign while playing 980 snaps, accounting for just 3 penalties and 2 sacks allowed. Thuney's presence would elevate a Viking O-line that was ranked No. 26 this season by PFF.
Meanwhile, Griffin could step in and immediately bolster Minnesota's secondary. In just 12 games last year, he racked up 3 interceptions (tied for ninth in the league) and 12 passes defended along with 53 solo tackles. For a Vikings secondary ranked No. 23 by PFF this season, adding a Pro Bowl CB in Griffin, who's only 25 years old, would be a huge win.
With deals being agreed to fast out of the gate, Minnesota may need to move quickly if they hope to add either of these two studs.
