While the Minnesota Vikings defense has struggled all year long, Mike Zimmer and his squad remain very much alive in the NFC at 4-5. Minnesota is knocking on the door of a Wild Card spot in the 2021 NFL playoffs.

Fortunately, the defense will be getting some important pieces back in order to turn things around.

Harrison Smith Update

Five-time Pro Bowl safety Harrison Smith missed Minnesota's last two games after landing on the COVID-19 list. But, Minnesota activated the top member of their secondary on Wednesday.

Smith will need some help to turn Minnesota's pass defense around. The Vikings allow the eighth-most passing yards per game (258.8) and rank bottom-10 in opponent QB rating (97.0).

Patrick Peterson Injury Update

Veteran cornerback Patrick Peterson is also on his way back. The eight-time Pro Bowler and three-time All-Pro corner hasn't played since Week 6 with a hamstring injury. Minnesota opened up Peterson's 21-day window for a return to practice.

Despite all the good news, the Vikings face one of their toughest tests in Week 11 when they take on divisional foe Green Bay Packers. Minnesota enters this NFC North clash as 2.5-point underdogs on FanDuel Sportsbook.
