VIDEO: Tua Tagovailoa Left Stunned by Dan Marino at Charity Event
It's always exciting as a fan anytime you get to meet a professional athlete — former or current — that you idolize at one point. That's especially true when the athlete in question is a Hall of Famer in their respective sport.
Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa is no exception to that awestruck feeling. The 24-year-old was attending a charity event for the Tua Foundation on Saturday when he was left stunned by the presence of the best quarterback in franchise history, Dan Marino.
Check out the video below to see how Tagovailoa went from being composed to having a tough time forming a sentence once Marino entered the room.
It was a fun reminder that even top athletes still become awestruck in the presence of their own idols. You can't exactly blame Tagovailoa, though. Marino is the Dolphins' franchise leader in passing yards, touchdown passes and games played, just to name a few of his records.
While he's nowhere near what Marino accomplished in Miami, Tagovailoa began to come into his own as the 2021 NFL season progressed. He made 12 starts in 13 games, finishing with 263 completions, 2,653 yards and 16 TDs to 10 interceptions while leading the Dolphins to seven of their nine wins.
The Dolphins are currently in a three-way tie for the 16th-best odds (+3500) to win Super Bowl LVII, according to FanDuel Sportsbook. Perhaps Marino can share a few tips with Tagovailoa this offseason that can help in Miami's championship pursuit.
