Bartolo Colon accomplished a lot on the mound over his 21-year MLB career. After all, he was a four-time All-Star, amassed 247 wins in 565 appearances (552 starts) and even won the American League Cy Young award in 2005.

As memorable as "Big Sexy's" career was, Colon's most memorable moment didn't take place on the mound, but in the batter's box instead.

On May 7, 2016, Colon made history as his New York Mets faced off against the San Diego Padres at Petco Park. With two outs in the top of the second inning, the then-42-year-old hit his first career home run, earning his place in the history books.

Here's a video of Colon's homer to commemorate the feat on the sixth anniversary of it happening. It's also impossible to deny that his expression after the big fly is priceless.

The achievement earned Colon the title of being the oldest player (42) to hit his first career home run. Baseball fans across the globe rallied around him because he was a pitcher to whom many people could relate.

Colon was never the tallest or most athletic pitcher in the Majors. In fact, his hitting history is downright abysmal, recording 25 hits in 299 at-bats with a .084/.092/.107 slash line.

So when he smashed James Shield's pitch into left field, it showed fans and players alike that the impossible can truly happen.

It's that sort of mentality along with the video proof above that earned Colon a special place in people's hearts for years to come.
