The Green Bay Packers made the decision to release 2021 third-round pick Amari Rodgers this week. His release wasn't very surprising considering his struggles in Green Bay, but it was certainly a sad occasion to move on from a player the organization once had high hopes for.
Rodgers' former teammates were solemn after finding out about his release.
Sammy Watkins said "that's my guy" in his first comments on Rodgers' departure. The two Clemson products developed a connection, and the veteran's hoping Rodgers can bounce back with his new team in the Houston Texans.
Randall Cobb echoed similar sentiments. Cobb praised Rodgers for his work ethic and preparation throughout their time together. He told the young wideout "I know what kind of player you can be" and encouraged him to do whatever he needs to build his confidence following this unfortunate career move.
Allen Lazard added it's "tough" to see Rodgers go after getting to know him over the past couple of seasons. Samari Toure mentioned Rodgers was someone he worked closely with being a fellow young receiver, so he's sad to see him go.
Now Rodgers will look to revive his career in Houston. He finished his tenure in Green Bay with 305 punt return yards and 321 kickoff return yards.
