As if his issues with frostbite and threatening retirement over which helmet he was allowed to wear weren't enough, Antonio Brown is now reportedly going to be suspended by the Oakland Raiders.
Impact on the Raiders' real-football outlook aside, this has huge implications in fantasy football. While the length of the suspension has yet to be announced, Brown's absence frees up the kind of volume that creates value for multiple players.
Tyrell Williams Fantasy Football Outlook for Week 1
Tyrell Williams is the big winner here. His 2019 upside was already intriguing with the Raiders looking to throw downfield more this season, and now he's likely going to be the team's top wideout in Week 1.
Efficiency is going to be a concern for him against a tough Denver Broncos defense (ranked fifth in Football Outsiders' defensive DVOA rankings in 2018), but now he could see enough volume to make up for that.
Williams is all but a must-add if he's on the waiver wire in your league, and his schedule softens up in Week 2 with a fantasy-friendly matchup against the Kansas City Chiefs.
The other two players to keep an eye on here are tight end Darren Waller and wide receiver Hunter Renfrow.
Waller is in line to be the team's top tight end following the release of Luke Willson. He hasn't shown anything at the NFL level yet, opening his career buried on the Baltimore Ravens' depth chart and backing up Jared Cook with the Raiders in 2018, but he's an elite athlete at the tight end spot. He ran a 4.46 40-yard dash at the 2015 NFL Combine while standing 6' 6" and weighing 255 pounds.
The rookie Renfrow thrived in the slot at Clemson, and with Williams working deep on the outside he could see plenty of looks underneath. A fifth-round pick in the 2019 NFL Draft, Renfrow is still little more than a speculative add, but if Brown's suspension lasts more than a game or two, the Clemson product could offer some sneaky value in PPR formats.
