The good news was that Friday was scheduled to be an off day, so the remainder of the Twins' schedule will not be impacted. All of the Opening Day festivities will still take place as Minnesota battles the Seattle Mariners. Tickets are still available for anyone looking to watch some baseball.
The Twins will be looking to bounce back from a tough 2021 season in which they posted a 73-89 record. Second-year pro Joe Ryan draws the start after posting a 2-1 record and 4.05 ERA across 5 starts last year. He also struck out 30 batters in 26.2 innings pitched.
Meanwhile, reigning Cy Young winner Robbie Ray will be on the bump for Seattle. The Mariners newcomer finished with a stellar 2.48 ERA in 32 starts with the Toronto Blue Jays in 2021 (13-7 record). He struck out a league-high 248 batters in 193.1 innings pitched as well.
Of course, Correa won't be the only high profile player making his debut for the team. The Twins also added catcher Gary Sanchez this offseason, to be determined if he gets the starting nod on Friday, though. On the flip side, it'll be the first time Seattle fans get to see outfielder Jesse Winker and Eugenio Suarez play after they were acquired via trade in March.
