The Houston Texans have a ton to figure out on their roster heading into the season. There's a huge question mark at quarterback, and the backfield is severely crowded. If Houston struggles like many are anticipating, there may be a fire sale of the team's top talent to help with a rebuild.

Two Texans players are emerging as trade candidates as preseason play winds down.

Texans Trade Rumors

ESPN's Jeremy Fowler says that Shaq Lawson and Lonnie Johnson are the subject of trade rumors around the league. Folwer's report seems to indicate that teams anticipate these two being available, rather than the Texans actively shopping them. But with how both players have fallen from their starting roles, it makes sense that a move could be on the horizon.

Houston just traded for Lawson earlier this offseason in a deal with the Miami Dolphins. He has recorded at least 4.0 sacks in each of the last four seasons, including a career-high 6.5 sacks in 2019 as a member of the Buffalo Bills.

Johnson, meanwhile, was the Texans' second-round pick in 2019. He appeared in all 16 games for the team last year, but only notched five starts and split time with the special teams unit.

These two could be the first of many players dealt during the 2021 season. Houstin is heavily favored to miss the playoffs at -1200 odds, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
