The Boston Red Sox have been one of the most disappointing teams to start the 2022 MLB season. While their players in the Majors haven't given fans much to be excited about, that hasn't been the case for one of their top prospects in the minors.

Right-handed pitcher Brayan Bello looked impressive with Double-A Portland to begin the season, earning himself a Triple-A call-up on Monday night. Considering how Tuesday is actually is 23rd birthday, gifts don't get much better than that.

Boston Red Sox Roster News

Bello is currently listed as the Red Sox's No. 1 pitching prospect on MLB.com and it's safe to say that he's lived up to his hype this season.

The 23-year-old has gone 4-2 in six starts with Double-A Portland, pitching to a 1.87 ERA and 0.832 WHIP while averaging 11.2 strikeouts per nine innings pitched. He also allowed only one earned run in 13.0 IP over his last two starts while striking out 10 batters.

Triple-A Worcester currently has a 15-21 record, while its 199 runs against ranks second-worst in the entire International League. The hope is that Bello can help with that issue by maintaining the same consistent play that he displayed in Double-A.

The sky is certainly the limit for Bello as he appears to have all the tools to be a Major-leaguer one day. Who knows, if he continues playing at this rate the Red Sox might give him an MLB call-up at some point later this year.
