The tight end position was a disaster in 2020. If you didn't have one of the top-six producers, you were better off scouring the waiver wire and playing the matchups instead of relying on a fringe TE1 each week.

Best TE for Fantasy Football 2021

The same appears true in 2021. Here are the top-three streaming tight ends, rostered in fewer than 50% of Yahoo! fantasy leagues, to target in Week 3.

Streaming TE Fantasy Football Week 3

3. Austin Hooper, Cleveland Browns (48% Rostered)

Austin Hooper was the Cleveland Browns' most productive pass-catcher last week. He converted all 5 of his targets for 40 yards. That's nothing to write home about but the volume is encouraging. And he could be getting another big workload in Week 3. Both Jarvis Landry and Odell Beckham could be out again on Sunday. David Njoku is a solid play as well for those same reasons, but Hooper feels like the safer option while Njoku has more upside.

2. Evan Engram, New York Giants (32% Rostered)

Is Evan Engram going to be good this season? Who knows. But "who knows" is a lot more than you can say about most of the fringe TE1 options. Coming off an injury, it looks like Engram is trending toward playing in Week 3. He draws a mouthwatering matchup against an Atlanta Falcons' defense that has allowed the second-most PPR points to TEs thus far. Engram is a worthy flyer this week and has legit top-10 TE upside if all breaks well for him this season.

1. Jared Cook, Los Angeles Chargers (43% Rostered)

Jared Cook has seen some really encouraging usage. His 13 targets put the 34-year-old TE inside the top 10 at the position, tying him with early-season superstar Rob Gronkowski. You're not going to find many tight ends who are getting that type of volume on the waiver wire. He also gets to face a Kansas City Chiefs' defense that has been terrible to start the year. The Chiefs are surrendering 10.4 yards per attempt to opposing QBs – the third-worst mark in the league. KC is also allowing top-10 PPR production to opposing tight ends. This might be the last week Cook is eligible for this list, so go get him while you can.
