The tight end position looks to be really strong at the top this season, but once we get beyond the elite fantasy producers, there's a ton of variance.

With such inconsistency, there aren't many players that you can consider locks as weekly starters. Instead, fantasy football owners can find an edge by combing the waiver wire for the TEs with the best matchups to get into your starting lineup each week.

These three tight ends, all owned in less than 50 percent of Yahoo! Fantasy Football leagues, are top streaming options for Week 9.

3. Jonnu Smith, Tennessee Titans

Delanie Walker has been nursing an injury to the same ankle that sent him to IR in 2018, and Jonnu Smith has stepped up in his place. Smith has played 83 percent and 73 percent of the Tennessee Titans' offensive snaps in the last two weeks. He has converted that workload to solid production, with three receptions for 64 yards in Week 7 and six receptions for 78 yards and one touchdown in Week 8. As long as Walker is on the shelf, Smith will make for a viable streaming option.

2. Cameron Brate, Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Also getting a boost from an injury, Cameron Brate is the only TE option for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers while O.J. Howard nurses a hamstring injury. Brate had already notched double-digit PPR fantasy points in two of the last three games before Howard went down, then he played his highest snap share of the season in Week 8 (66 percent). His production wasn't anything impressive, but he notched six targets in the loss. As an added bonus, he should also be a top streaming option in Week 10 as well, when he draws the best TE fantasy matchup in the league as the Bucs take on the Arizona Cardinals.

1. Noah Fant, Denver Broncos

With Emmanuel Sanders traded away, Noah Fant stepped up and saw a team-high eight targets for the Denver Broncos in Week 8. That was his highest target total of the season, and nobody else on the team saw more than six. The Broncos get a downgrade at QB this week, starting Brandon Allen, but that change shouldn't be a significant blow to the volume available. It does hurt Fant's TD upside, but as one of the Broncos' top receiving options, he should continue to offer great fantasy value with Sanders out of the picture. Fant sits at TE10 in our Week 9 PPR fantasy football rankings.
