The tight end position has been strong at the top this season, but once we get beyond the elite fantasy producers, there's a ton of variance.
With such inconsistency, there aren't many players that you can consider locks as weekly starters. Instead, fantasy football owners can find an edge by combing the waiver wire for the TEs with the best matchups to get into your starting lineup each week.
These three tight ends, all owned in less than 50 percent of Yahoo! Fantasy Football leagues, are the top streaming TE options for Week 13.
3. Jack Doyle, Indianapolis Colts (33% Owned) vs. Tennessee Titans
With Eric Ebron landing on IR early this week, Jack Doyle should see his role in the Indianapolis Colts' passing game expand down the stretch. Ebron is tied with T.Y. Hilton with a team-high 52 targets, vacating a significant chunk of volume even in the run-heavy Colts offense. Doyle hasn't seen a ton of work this season, but the absence of Ebron should get his snap count up into the 80 percent range (he's played between 60 and 77 percent in each game) while giving him an uptick in targets as well. This should provide Doyle with a reasonable floor for fantasy production both this weekend against the Tennessee Titans, who allow the 11th-most fantasy points to the TE position, and in the week's to come.
2. Ryan Griffin, New York Jets (43% Owned) vs. Cincinnati Bengals
Ryan Griffin has played 88 percent of the New York Jets' offensive snaps this season, giving him the league's fourth-highest snap share at the TE position. That didn't translate to very much fantasy production early in the year, but Griffin has now scored four touchdowns in the last five weeks, averaging 13.7 PPR fantasy points per game during that stretch. If we extrapolate those numbers, that's good for a ranking of TE6 on the season. And he's not likely to slow down much against the Cincinnati Bengals, who sit 31st in Football Outsiders' pass defense DVOA rankings, in Week 13.
1. Noah Fant, Denver Broncos (39% Owned) vs. Los Angeles Chargers
Noah Fant checks in at TE11 in our Week 13 fantasy football PPR rankings. The rookie has accounted for 24 percent of the Denver Broncos' targets since Week 8 (the first week after Emmanuel Sanders was traded), which is the third-best market share at the TE position in that time. Volume is generally hard to come by for a streaming tight end, so averaging 7.0 targets per game over the last four gives Fant a great floor, while his big-play upside – highlighted by three 20-plus-yard receptions in the last three games, including a 75-yard score – gives him a strong ceiling as well.
