Five of the top nine scoring fantasy football defenses so far in 2021 had a preseason average draft position (ADP) outside the top-12 at the position. Meanwhile, the top-drafted Pittsburgh Steelers are tied for just 13th in fantasy production.

More than just about any other position, fantasy production for defenses is all about matchups and situation. That's why so many fantasy managers opt to lean heavily on the waiver wire and "stream" the position by readily adding and dropping defenses every week to find a new starter.

If you're one of those managers, The Duel is here to help with our top fantasy football streaming defenses for Week 3.

3. Las Vegas Raiders (vs MIA)

The Las Vegas Raiders' defense hasn't had an easy first two matchups this season, but they've still managed to rank in the middle of the pack (T-15th) in fantasy production. In fact, ProFootballFocus has given them the NFL's sixth-highest defensive grade to open the year. The Miami Dolphins just got shut out by the Buffalo Bills, and Jacoby Brissett's 1 interception and 4 sacks in that one don't inspire much confidence that he'll challenge this Raiders D. People may start taking Las Vegas a little more seriously if their defense can have a breakout showing against Miami.

2. Tennessee Titans (vs IND)

Maybe Carson Wentz's sack issues in Philadelphia weren't all on the offensive line. He's been sacked 3 times in each of his first two games in 2021, and now he's already dealing with a pair of sprained ankles. Weather it's Wentz or Jacob Eason (2-of-5 with 1 interception in Week 2) at the helm, this is a juicy matchup for the Tennessee Titans, who are sizable 5.5-point favorites on FanDuel Sportsbook.

1. Carolina Panthers (@ HOU)

This is almost too easy. The Carolina Panthers lead the NFL in sacks. They have allowed the fewest points, yards and first downs. PFF has them ranked second in defensive grade. On the other side, Davis Mills will be staring for the Houston Texans after completing just 8 of his 18 pass attempts with an interception, a sack and a fumble in his pro debut. The Panthers' D racked up 9 fantasy points in Week 1 and 12 in Week 2, and this unit should be in for another strong performance in Week 3.
