Defensive scoring in fantasy football depends more on weekly matchups than maybe any other position. There are very few true, every-week starting options out there, and all but the absolute worst defenses can be worth using if they're in the right matchup.

Every week there are plenty of defenses worth starting that are available on the waiver wire, and it pays to be vigilant in keeping up with the best weekly plays at the position.

With that said, here are the top-3 fantasy football streaming defenses for Week 8, all of which are owned in fewer than 50 percent of Yahoo! Fantasy Football leagues.

3. Houston Texans vs. Oakland Raiders (42% Owned)

The Houston Texans haven't been getting home for a ton of sacks this year, with only 17 across seven games, but they are getting to the QB. They've scored QB knockdowns on 7.2 percent of their opponents' passing attempts in 2019, which is the 13th-highest rate in the NFL. The Oakland Raiders are also turning the ball over at an above-average rate (13.3 percent of drives), and the Texans are solid 6.5-point favorites on FanDuel Sportsbook.

2. Indianapolis Colts vs. Denver Broncos (34% Owned)

The Denver Broncos are allowing the NFL's fifth-highest sack rate (9.4 percent), and that makes almost any of their opponents worth a look in fantasy football. The Indianapolis Colts' defense has a top-10 sack rate (7.4 percent) of their own, and that pass rush has been key to their fantasy success. In games in which they record multiple sacks, they are averaging 7.8 fantasy points per game, compared to only 2.5 when failing to notch two sacks.

1. Detroit Lions vs. New York Giants (12% Owned)

The New York Giants have allowed the fourth-most fantasy points per game to opposing defenses this season. A league-high 23.4 percent of their drives have ended in turnovers, and they're also allowing an above-average 7.0 percent sack rate. The Detroit Lions' defense hasn't generated much fantasy production in 2019, averaging 6.5 points per game, but this matchup alone should be enough to push them over the top, especially when the Lions are 7-point favorites, according to FanDuel Sportsbook. The Lions' defense sits eighth at the position in our Week 8 PPR fantasy football rankings.
