Defenses are sometimes left as an afterthought in fantasy football, but Week 15 served as a reminder as to just how important they can be in the fantasy playoffs. Anyone who got burned with 2 points from the Los Angeles Rams defense can attest to that.
With that in mind, here are our fantasy football defense rankings for Week 16.
Week 16 Defense Rankings Fantasy Football
12. Washington Football Team (vs CAR)
11. Arizona Cardinals (vs SF)
10. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (at DET)
9. Los Angeles Chargers (vs DEN)
8. Miami Dolphins (at LV)
7. Pittsburgh Steelers (vs IND)
The No. 1 defense in fantasy points per game (10.4, pending Week 15 Monday Night Football), the Pittsburgh Steelers draw a tough matchup at the worst possible time. Fantasy owners who have been riding the Steelers D to the fantasy championship aren't likely going to want to bench them, but taking on an Indianapolis Colts offense that has allowed the NFL's second-lowest sack rate means Pittsburgh is far from a must-start.
6. Houston Texans (vs CIN)
5. New Orleans Saints (vs MIN)
4. Buffalo Bills (at NE)
3. Chicago Bears (at JAX)
2. Cleveland Browns (at NYJ)
1. Baltimore Ravens (vs NYG)
The Baltimore Ravens defense can be a boom-or-bust fantasy play, but their upside is hard to ignore, with 15-plus fantasy points on three occasions this season. They dropped 10 points in Week 15, and now they draw a primo matchup as 10-point favorites against a New York Giants offense that has allowed the NFL's fifth-most sacks and 11th-most turnovers.
