Opening Day is rapidly approaching, which means it's time to begin prepping for your 2021 fantasy baseball drafts.

Here at The Duel we'll have you covered every step of the way, and that begins with the first step of draft prep — identifying this year's top fantasy baseball assets. You can check out our top-100 fantasy baseball player rankings here and top-20 team names as well.

With that in mind, here are the top-10 fantasy baseball second basemen for the 2021 MLB season.

Fantasy Baseball 2B Rankings 2021

10. Cavan Biggio, Toronto Blue Jays

9. Lourdes Gurriel Jr., Toronto Blue Jays

8. Jose Altuve, Houston Astros

7. Brandon Lowe, Toronto Blue Jays

Last season, no second baseman had more barrels than Brandon Lowe's 24, and it wasn't close. Nobody else had more than 19, and his 17.5% barrel rate crushed the second-ranked 14.2%. That helped him hit 14 home runs across 56 games, finishing just 3 shy of the career-high he set in 2019. Of course, swinging this hard comes with its downsides, as he's posted a strikeout rate north of 25.0% in each of his three MLB seasons.

6. Ketel Marte, Arizona Diamondbacks

5. Gleyber Torres, New York Yankees

4. Keston Hiura, Milwaukee Brewers

Keston Hiura didn't live up to his amazing rookie season numbers in 2020, but there's still a lot to like. Not your traditional second baseman, there's a lot of Brandon Lowe in his numbers. He's sporting an ugly 32.3% strikeout rate across 594 major league plate appearances, but he's also got 32 home runs on a huge 38.3% hard-hit rate and 37.7% fly-ball rate.

3. DJ LeMahieu, New York Yankees

2. Whit Merrifield, Kansas City Royals

1. Ozzie Albies, Atlanta Braves

Fantasy managers who had Ozzie Albies last year dealt with plenty of frustration, as the Atlanta Braves often kept him batting late in the order. That concern seemed to clear up down the stretch, and the Braves had him batting fifth for the entire postseason. That's a valuable spot to be in an offense that scored the MLB's second-most runs per game. And for his part, Albies does what you need out of a second baseman from a fantasy standpoint, slashing a career .279/.330/.473 with 40 stolen bases in 404 career games.

Be sure to check out our top-10 rankings for the other positions as well: shortstop, first base, third base, outfielder and starting pitcher.
