Running back Todd Gurley is excelling in his first season with the Atlanta Falcons and he has provided a boost at the running back position that the team sorely needed. His 9 rushing touchdowns currently rank second among NFL running backs as he continues to find the endzone.

In fact, Gurley is on the brink of joining some elite NFL greats in that exact category. If he scores just one more rushing touchdown, he will have 10+ for the fourth straight season. Only a handful of players have ever accomplished that feat including the likes of LaDanian Tomlinson, Adrian Peterson, and Walter Payton.

While the Falcons are 3-6 and struggling to stay alive in the NFC playoff race, Gurley has been quietly having a great season as he is on pace for over 1,000 rushing yards and 16 rushing touchdowns. He has become a stable and reliable leader for this Atlanta ground game.

It is always great to be mentioned in the same company of NFL players that won Super Bowls and made the Hall of Fame. Gurley is set to do just that as he continues to show why he was worthy of a first-round pick back in 2015.

It is yet to been seen if Gurley can keep up his impressive pace of averaging a rushing touchdown per week this season, but it is safe to say he is having a level of success many didn't expect from him in Atlanta.
