Updated (Sunday, Nov. 22, 11:45 a.m. EST): Teddy Bridgewater has been officially ruled out, meaning PJ Walker will start for the Carolina Panthers. This news makes Robby Anderson and DJ Moore risky, boom-or-bust WR2 options in a plus matchup against a beatable Detroit Lions' secondary.
Not only has Teddy Bridgewater yet to miss a game as the starting quarterback for the Carolina Panthers, he has been fairly impressive for the franchise. After an MCL sprain in Week 10, though, Teddy will be a game-time decision this afternoon.
This not only impacts Bridgewater managers in fantasy football, but DJ Moore and Robby Anderson managers as well ahead of the plus matchup with the Detroit Lions' secondary.
DJ Moore Fantasy Outlook
This was the type of opponent that Moore managers were licking their chops for, especially when you consider that the star wide receiver was finally getting back on track, catching 4 passes for 96 yards and a TD in Week 10. He only had four receptions combined in the two games prior.
Moore is well on his way to a 1,000-yard season, but he hasn't exactly been the focal point of this Panthers' offense. His 21% target share isn't bad, averaging 6.9 targets per game, but he's clearly been working behind Robby Anderson, who boasts a 26% target share and an average of 8.6 per game.
Based on all that, a potential switch to P.J. Walker in Week 11 may be less noticeable for Moore fantasy managers than anticipated. It could even lead to a potential uptick in volume if he's more comfortable with Moore than Anderson. But Walker has never attempted more than 4 passes in a single game, so it'd be difficult to project what this offense would look like with him at the helm.
And if Walker struggles, the Panthers' skill-position players could certainly be looking at a significant dip in efficiency.
Moore's fantasy value might not take as bit of a hit as you'd think if Walker starts, but he would be a bit riskier than he otherwise would be. And if it ends up being Bridgewater, Moore will remain the boom-or-bust WR2 he's been all year.
