T.J. Watt Has Badass Response to Being Highest-Paid Defender

The Pittsburgh Steelers and T.J. Watt finally agreed on a gargantuan contract extension ahead of Week 1 after some concerns that he could hold out. The pressure is now on Watt to prove he's worth that record-setting contract.
But, he's more than ready to live up to the expectations.

Watt put it simply by saying "I'm built for this" when asked about his flashy new deal. The Steelers' star is now the highest-paid defender with an average annual value of $28 million, but it's not going to change who he is.
"I'm built for this. And I truly believe that nothing monetary will change me as a person. The work that I put in will not change. It will only grow."
- T.J. Watt
Watt's monster start to his career indicates that he'll be worth every penny. The former Wisconsin standout has set out to prove everyone wrong after falling to No. 30 in the 2017 draft, and he's succeeded.
The star edge rusher is coming off of a second-place finish in Defensive Player of the Year voting after racking up a league-leadig 23 tackles for loss and 15.0 sacks. He's already earned two First Team All-Pro nods in four years, and there's likely many more to come for the almost 27-year-old.
Watt owns the third-best odds to win DPOY in 2021 at +850, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
